The story of Manfred Fritz Bajorat, 59, is an interesting one. Manfred, a German adventurer, was found completely mummified aboard his yacht off the coast of Barobo town in Surigao del Sur in the Philippines by a pair of fishermen.
Perhaps the most startling discovery, Bajorat was discovered slumped over a note to his late wife Claudia, who died from cancer in 2010 after having separated from Manfred in 2008. He was also next to a radio, appearing that he had desperately tried making a Mayday call for rescue.
The note read: “Thirty years we’re been together on the same path. Then the power of the demons was stronger than the will to live. You’re gone. May your soul find its peace. Your Manfred.”

Identified by paperwork on board, Manfred had been traveling on his yacht – a 40 footer named SAYO – for the past 20 years, he hadn’t been sighted since 2009, though a friend said he had heard from Bajorat on his birthday through Facebook in 2015, according to reports.

Authorities do not believe there was any foul play involved, they aren’t sure what killed him or how long he has been dead. “The way he is sitting seems to indicate that death was unexpected, perhaps from a heart attack,” according to Dr. Mark Benecke, a forensic criminologist from Germany.
Dry ocean winds and the salty air helped to preserve his body, say officials.
