After feeling like she bumped into something during a recent snorkeling trip in the Bahamas, Tiffany Johnson turned to check out what she had run into.

She found out something had actually bumped into her when she turned and realized she was face to face with a what she believes was a tiger shark that had her entire arm in its mouth.

“It just felt like I had bumped into something, so I just casually turned to my right to look … my whole arm was in its mouth, just floating there,” according to The Washington Post. “I kept trying to yank my hand back and the last time I yanked, he had cut it clean off so I was able to actually get free.”

The attack happened on June 2, during the last leg of the Caribbean cruise Johnson and her husband were on. “She felt her arm, like a small tug on her arm,” her husband, J.J. Johnson She casually looked over to her right to see what it was and she was staring face-to-face at the shark.”

“She felt her arm, like a small tug on her arm,” her husband, J.J. Johnson, said. “She casually looked over to her right to see what it was and she was staring face-to-face at the shark.”

Unfortunately, doctors weren’t able to save her arm and had to amputate it below the elbow.

“I’m thankful to be able to share this story and I hope, and I know, that it’s going to change people’s lives because you can’t hear this story and not see God in it.”

Despite having lost her arm she’s happy to have survived.

“I felt this tangible peace on me and it was so thick, that I was just calm,” She said.

“Who cares about a limb?” she continued. “It’s a limb and I’m here.”
