If it wasn’t clear before that the python situation in south Florida is out of hand, it is now.
Joe Capozzi, a reporter for the Palm Beach Post was biking in Big Cypress National Preserve in Ochopee, FL, when he saw something rarely caught on camera – a python wrestling an alligator to the death.
“It was a sight, I would learn later, that’s rarely witnessed in the wild — an alligator being attacked by a Burmese Python,” said Capozzi.
It looks like it’s time to figure out more ways to get rid of these invasive snakes. Unfortunately they aren’t easy to find and there’s a massive population that just keeps growing. Even with record breaking numbers from the Python Challenge, it’s just not enough.
