Although you wouldn’t want to find yourself face-to-face with a black bear or a grizzly, these bears are two different animals entirely. With grizzly bears being at least two to three times the size of the average black bear, it’s the last thing you want walking your way when you can’t legally hunt it.
A hunter in Alaska was on a hunt for black bears when a grizzly took the bait instead. The last thing he wanted to do was startle the bear, so he kept quiet and hoped it’d leave him alone.
Instead, it kept getting closer and closer. This was less than ideal since a scared grizzly might charge. He eventually had no choice but make noise so the bear would hopefully leave.
“Hey bear. Get out of here,” says the hunter.
Fortunately, this was enough to cause the bear to tear off in the opposite direction instead of running towards the hunter. Considering anythng could have happened with a grizzly, this hunter probably needed to take a breather and possibly grab a new pair of pants.
