Video captures exact moment you don’t want to be on a bridge

At this rate, I’m going to have a fear of walking or driving across any bridge. If there’s a bridge in your future, or if you have a fear of heights, don’t say you weren’t warned.

Seriously, it’s been a bad month for bridges. Earlier this week, we saw one of China’s famed glass walkways crack after a tourist dropped a mug on it. That was bad enough, but if there’s any good news there, the tourists walking across it didn’t fall to their potential dooms.

The same can’t be said for a group of French tourists on the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk in New Zealand about a month ago. Footage uploaded to YouTube by Adrien Whistle shows one of the four tourists videoing their trek toward the Hope Ruahine bridge in Hawkes Bay.

The bridge was designed to carry 10 people.

Key word here is “was.”

Worst thing about it is that you KNOW it’s coming and there’s nothing you can do to warn these folks. Thankfully, despite falling nearly 30 feet into the river, no one was injured. Officials have said that the September incident occurred because a cable on the bridge “released.”

The bridge remains closed while officials investigate exactly what caused the collapse.

In other news, stay away from bridges.
