The 1,400-year-old tree sheds its leaves in autumn, leaving a sheet of yellow near the Gu Guanyin Buddhist Temple in the city of Xi’an, central China’s Shaanxi Province.
Jaw-dropping photos of the ginkgo tree were recently released on the People’s Daily Online, showing its majestic ocean of golden leaves.
It’s said to have been planted during the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907), and tourists have been travelling from all over the world to visit the majestic tree.
