PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) are at it once again, making up far-fetched facts about why everyone should stop fishing – you read that right.
Here’s the video description:
If you know anyone who still goes fishing, show them this. When fish are yanked from the water, they begin to suffocate. Their gills often collapse, and their swim bladders can rupture because of the sudden change in pressure.
If you know anyone who still goes fishing? PETA treats fishing like a drug addiction. Do they even understand the purpose of fishing? Have they even seen a fishing pole in person? I doubt it.
Fish feeling pain isn’t exactly a revolution. They’re also a delicious (and healthy, despite what PETA says) food source. Fishermen aren’t out their intentionally causing fish to suffer, they’re catching dinner and bonding with friends and loved ones or enjoying the solitude of the outdoors.
It seems they have a few facts that just don’t add up, almost like someone made them up to further their own agenda. On top of that, PETA – despite all of their preaching about not hurting animals in any way, shape or form – actually kills up to 97% of the animals they they ‘save’ every year – you read that right too. That backwards logic is why I ignore anything PETA says, because it’s usually pretty ridiculous.
“Children who witness cruelty to animals experience psychological and emotional damage.” Nope. Wrong. Children who fish aren’t witnessing cruelty towards animals; they’re learning how the food chain works, how to respectfully treat animals, about tradition (not torture).
If fishermen wanted to practice sadistic, needles cruelty to animals, they could just kill several thousand puppies and kittens, like PETA does.
I’m glad this is why you don’t go fishing, PETA. I couldn’t imagine anything that would ruin a trip on the water quicker than one of your supporters.
