Captain Matthew Jones’ crew from the Sanctuary Marine Bermuda showed off a 14 pound lobster they believe washed closer to shore thanks to the powerful category 4 hurricane that barreled through the region recently.
The lobster was caught “by accident” with a hook a line while the Sanctuary Marine Bermuda charter boat was out fishing for snapper, according to a Facebook post Saturday afternoon.
This isn’t a record-setter though. The Guinness World Records lists the largest lobster caught was over 44 pounds. That happened off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada.
Jones says his team released the colossal crustacean back into the sea.
