Man Found Inside 23-Foot-Long Python After Villagers Cut It Open

A group of Indonesian villagers received a massive shock when they witnessed a massive 23-foot-long python get cut open. What was inside was the last thing you’d expect to find inside a snake – a fully grown man.

25-year-old Akbar Salubiro was a palm oil harvester who had been missing since March 26. Unfortunately, at some point after going missing he was likely killed by the reticulated pythons before it swallowed him whole. It’s highly unlikely he was swallowed while he was alive, since constricting snakes kill their prey by cutting off blood flow before consuming them.

“The heart literally doesn’t have enough strength to push against the pressure,” Scott Boback, a vertebrate ecologist at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, said to National Geographic.

As strange as it may sound, the palm oil industry may be partially to blame for the snake behaving in this manner. Because of the deforestation caused by harvesting palm oil, snakes must uproot and look for other food sources as they’re on the move.
