Nathan Carman, 22, a boater who had been adrift at sea for over a week, was recovered by US Coast Guard after being discovered 100 miles off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard.
Carman had set sail from Point Judith in a 32-foot boat along with his mother, Linda, 54, for a fishing trip.

A search was started by the Coast Guard after the pair hadn’t been heard from and never returned. After looking for six days and covering an area larger than the State of Georgia, USCG stopped searching.
A freighter spotted Carman in a life raft on Sunday, 100 nautical miles south of Martha’s Vineyard.
Carman was reported to be in good condition by the Coast Guard.
The whereabouts of Linda Carman remain unknown, as she was not found on the raft with her son.
