Most home break-in stories don’t end on a positive note. Then again, most families don’t find the people who broke into their house and hold them at gunpoint on live TV while they wait for authorities.
The Wyatt family returned home on a Friday to discover their home had been robbed. Surveillance video showed a woman and a two men who kicked their door down and took two TVs and multiple Christmas presents before driving away in a black Ford Ranger pickup truck.
Sarah Wyatt was being interviewed that Sunday about the home invasion when she noticed a familiar looking truck drive by with three passengers she and her family recognized. They wasted no tie in driving after the burglars.
“They happened to drive by and we seen them drive by and we knew it was them and we stopped them,” Chris Wyatt said.
The Wyatt family tailed the burglars until they turned down a road that allowed the family to block in the thieves.
“They tried to say that they were lost and we corrected them where they were,” Chris said.
The Wyatt’s had a big surprise in store for the thieves when they pulled out guns and forced them to stay where they were while they contacted the police. When police arrived, they arrested Eric Paul Stillwell, 38, of Quinton, 29-year-old Natosha Derrick of Jasper and 28-year-old Elizabeth Frost of Burnwell.
The Wyatts aren’t sure if they’ll manage to get their stolen belongings back, but they’re hopeful.
“Sure hope so, if they don’t at least we’re all safe and in one piece and they are off the street for now,” Sarah Wyatt said.
