Craziest First Deer Hunt Ever – H.S. Senior Shoots First Deer After It Breaks Into His Home

We all remember our first deer kill, but this high school senior will never forget the insanity that resulted in his first time shooting a deer.

Ryan Manchester was alarmed when he heard a loud banging on his door around 1:30 p.m. on December 5. Unsure whether it was someone trying to break in or if his parents had lost their key, he went to investigate.

“It sounded like someone was trying to break the door down with a sledgehammer,” he told the Frederick News Post.

As soon as he looked, an 8-point buck busted through his door frame and went on a Christmas rampage worthy of the Grinch.

As you can see, the buck did some serious damage, mainly to the tree.

Ryan stopped recording when he realized he needed to take action so this confused buck wouldn’t do any more damage. He called 911 after locking his dog in the bathroom and heading for his room.

“I told them what was happening and they didn’t really seem to have any urgency,” Manchester said. “I don’t think they knew how much damage it was doing. So I asked them if I should shoot it. They didn’t tell me to shoot it. But they didn’t tell me not to shoot it. So I was like, ‘I’m probably gonna shoot it.'”

He then called his father for the location of the key to the gun cabinet. He got the key and ended up grabbing his father’s Smith and Wesson 9 mm handgun.

He got downstairs and saw the deer had managed to get blood on every window in the house. The deer was in the kitchen, about 20 feet away at this point, but Manchester didn’t shoot.

“The gun is kind of a piece of a junk, so I knew that far, I was going to miss,” he said.

The deer got closer to Manchester in the middle of the living room and finally noticed him.

“He saw me and stopped,” Manchester said. “Like a deer in the headlights. So I shot him right between the eyes.”

It took two shots to down the buck, but the rampage was finally over.

Police arrived on the scene and made sure the gun was registered and an official from the Maryland DNR issued a tag for the kill.
