Country Singer’s Body Found After Weeklong Search Following Hunting Trip

1/4/16 Update: The body of country singer Craig Strickland was found Monday morning in Oklahoma after he disappeared last week during a duck hunting trip, authorities said. Police had been searching for Strickland, 29, near Kaw Lake in Oklahoma since he was reported missing on Dec. 27. The body of his friend Chase Morland, 22, was found last week.

Previously: Country singer Craig Strickland of Backroad Anthem and his close friend Chase Morland were reported missing Sunday after a trip to Kaw Lake. Morland’s body was found in the lake Monday, Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Police also found a capsized boat. After receiving the news, the band posted on their Facebook page “As some of you may know at this point yesterday early morning about 2 am Craig Strickland & his good friend Chase Morland headed out to go duck hunting. We received a text last night from Randy Strickland asking us band members to pray for Craig and Chase, because they had not made any kind of contact with families in 24 hours. We do know they issued a search party which ended last night about 2 am, and that they were resuming the search party this morning at 6:30 am. We are asking all fans to please pray for Craig & Chase to be found safe and sound. Please also pray for Craigs family, his wife, and for us band members. We love you guys and we appreciate your ever loving support for our dream. ‪#‎PowerInPrayer‬ We do not know much more information at this point. So we do ask for your respect in this matter until we learn any further details.”

Backroad Anthem is a country band based out of Arkansas who have opened for many large popular artists, including Luke Bryan, Eli Young Band and Dierks Bentley.
