Carnival Vista destroyed part of Marina del Nettuno port in Messina, Sicily, while leaving port on August, 28.
Fortunately, thought the ship did cause quite a bit of damage, the crew managed to not smash into the dock and boats. It instead destroyed parts of the marina and damaged some boats and caused others to sink while gunning its engines, causing powerful waves to wash into and over anything in their path.
The damage is estimated to be around $280,000 by some reports. The cause of the incident is under investigation but it looks like wind played a factor in pushing the boat towards the marina.
