Boeing is always looking for ways to make planes lighter, stronger and more efficient at getting from point A to point B. Microlattice just might help them accomplish all three of those objectives as the company looks for ways to use the world’s lightest metallic structure in aircraft and eventually other vehicles.
The metal achieves its extremely lightweight structure because of its 3D open structure. This means its make-up is 99.9% air and it’s light enough to sit on a dandelion.
