14-Foot, 900-Pound Monster Alligator Breaks Texas Record

Gary Sausage and the Gator Country team, in Beaumont, Texas, hauled in the biggest alligator the state has ever seen when they captured a 13 foot, eight inch gator. It’s no surprise that this 900 pound reptile broke the state record.

“And they let me know by record they don’t see anything that’s even been within 5 inches of this as for as being caught live. And uh that makes me feel proud. I’ve been looking for this gator for a really long time. This is without a doubt the highlight of my career,” Saurage said.

It’s estimated the gator is between 50-60-years-old and was in need of intervention if it was going to survive because it was too used to humans. Gator Country is the perfect place for him to live out his days in safety.

“He’s not going to be a dead alligator he’s going to be a live alligator here so we can educate people and show people what they’re like. And this is a magnificent beast, now people from all over the world will come and see even one that’s bigger than Big Al, finally,” Saurage said.

They decided to name the newly relocated gator “Big Tex,” which seems perfect as he goes alongside Big Al, which is the parks largest gator they had, until now.
