If you’ve ever wondered where alligators go if their lake freezes during harsh winters, just look for their noses.
When the temperature drops, gators will stick their snout above the water right before it freezes. This allows them to breath while they chill out and wait for the ice to thaw.
These alligators are from the Shallotte River Swamp Park in North Carolina during the recent freeze. Since they’re all rescues they’re unable to return to the wild.
