Jami Lynn Spears’ daughter Maddie, 8, is in critical condition after being under the water for two minutes after an ATV crash. The niece of Britney Spears, Maddie first received the ATV for her seventh birthday.
It looks like she overcorrected a turn to avoid hitting a drainage ditch and ended up entering a nearby pond, according to a police report. Jamie Lynn and her husband, Jamie Watson, were about 100 yards away when they saw the vehicle enter the water.
“The ATV and child were instantly submerged in the water right before their eyes,” according to a statement from Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards.
“The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV’s safety netting,” the report continues. “Within two minutes, Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters.”
Maddie is currently in critical condition, but luckily she’s stable.
The family asks for continued prayers during this trying time and asks for everyone to respect their privacy.
