The crew of the Navy’s brand new $4.3 billion Zumwalt Destroyer brought the captain of the fishing boat Danny Boy, who was suffering chest pains, to their ship’s deck after Coast Guard officials were unable to reach him, Lt. David Bourbeau said. The stealth warship was in the area conducting sea trials early Saturday when it responded to a call for help. It is the largest destroyer ever built for the Navy.
The 610-foot ship is the first of a new class of high-tech destroyers, the Press Herald reported. On radar, the ship looks more like a small fishing boat than a 600-foot warship.
