There’s probably something to be said about not standing on the shore during a massive storm.
A man, 75, and his wife, 76, were walking along Porsguen beach in Brittany when a massive wave rushed towards them, sweeping the husband away, causing his wife to run to save him along with a passer-by – Oliver Lou – who was subsequently swept away.
Fortunately another bystander – Eric Roudaut – was able to rescue them, allowing everyone involved to walk away without serious injury despite how violent the incident was.
Winds had reached speeds of 86mph and waves were 15ft high – a code orange (be prepared) was in effect.
The individuals involved were taken to Hôpital Cavale Blanche.
This is the same storm system that has been battering Britain this week.
