This giant anteater doesn’t know how close it came to becoming lunch while drinking at a watering hole.

While preoccupied with the water, a jaguar sneaks up on the giant anteater and it looks like it’s ready to pounce. Luckily for the anteater, the jaguar appeared more curious than anything and decided it would rather watch it and follow it around for a bit.

A photographer who was watching the anteater thought he was about to witness a bloodbath as well but was surprised to see it didn’t appear the big cat was planning on attacking.

Behavior like this isn’t entirely uncommon for jaguars. Anteaters aren’t they’re preferred prey, making up only 5% of what they eat, so they don’t often go after them.
