The Scubajet may be an engine designed for scuba divers — as the name implies — but that doesn’t mean it’s a one-trick pony. Capable of propelling divers, kayakers and canoers, the Austrian company behind Scubajet wants to turn any water sports craft into “high-performance gear” with its eco-friendly propulsion system.
Powered by an electric motor, Scubajet is powered by an onboard battery with up to four hours of use, offering up to 44 pounds of thrust at speeds up to 9 miles per hour. It’s also lightweight at only 6.6 pounds, so it’s easy to tote around to your next adventure.
By partnering with manufacturers, Scubajet also created a mounting system that makes it incredibly easy to add propulsion to whatever gear you want to power up.
Priced between $1,400 and $1,700, the Scubajet doesn’t come cheap, but it sounds like it’ll be money well spent.
