If you thought the Minnesota Twins were only bringing out a bald eagle for the national anthem on Thursday’s home opener against the Seattle Mariners. It turns out they were also using it to keep players on their toes.
No one knows this better than Mariners pithcer James Paxton, who actually had the eagle land right on his shoulders. Things could’ve gone a lot worse for him had he not stayed as calm as he did and waited for the eagle to drop to the ground and for the trainer to step in.
BALD EAGLE ATTACK ????
Outstanding reaction from the @Mariners‘ James Paxton, though. Just stay calm. (via @fsnorth) pic.twitter.com/pWer9G1L5L
