In the wake of the attack in Orlando, Academy Sports + Outdoors is pulling modern sporting rifles from their display shelves. The removal of the rifles was at the request of corporate HQ in Texas.
The sporting goods retailer will still offer to sell the guns, customers will just have to inquire about them.
It has also been said that Academy Sports has considered removing all items that resemble an “assault rifle” from there shelves including bb guns and rifle lighters.
There’s even talk of a specific policy that would require customers who wish to purchase more than 10 boxes of ammo in a caliber that the store deems an “assault rifle caliber” to give personal information to Academy Sports for them to keep on file.
