It turns out if you were to head into battle a few hundred years ago, a crossbow wouldn’t be much more dangerous than a pellet gun as long as you were in steel armor. This 350lb crossbow is not match for these steel helmets, no matter how many shots are fired at them. This definitely doesn’t mean they were a viable means for complete safety because those eye holes provide an awfully largely expose vital area.
We’re guessing this means a lot of knights ended up with some pretty serious eye injuries.
