There’s no shortage of possible ammo variants that can be created using a 3D printer, but the “Needle” has to be one of the most interesting we’ve seen. Create entirely from alumide (nylon with aluminum powder) this slug looks like a tiny spear ready to harpoon anything that gets in its way.
Unfortunately, whether it’s because of aerodynamics, weight – it’s just 4 grams, while 5 grams is the minimum weight for a shotgun shell to function properly – or both, it doesn’t quite live up to expectations. Most of the time the slug tends to flip end over end as it hurdles towards its target, rapidly losing velocity along the way.
Whether it functions like it was intended to or not, this slug looks like it’d be a blast to shoot.
