Viral Footage Shows Massive Shark Circling Swimmer At Florida Beach

This is the definition of terrifying

A woman swimming at Panama City Beach, Florida, didn’t know how close she was to turning into dinner while paddling around in the crystal clear water.

Footage shows the woman was slowly kicking around in the water as a shark begins following her, eventually circling around her.

Bystanders can be heard attempting to get her attention by yelling that there’s a shark on her right on her tail, but it doesn’t appear she ever realizes until right at the end of the clip.

“You don’t want to write what I was thinking,” said Stan Battles, who filmed the ominous scene from his 28th-floor balcony at Tidewater Resort. “I just didn’t want the girl to get hurt.”

Battles had spotted the shark earlier in the morning and had been watching it swim and loop around. He says it mostly stayed hidden and kept moving back to cloudier water if it moved too far out in the open.

That changed when the woman came into the picture, causing Battles to start recording.

“The woman swims directly over this thing,” he said. “Directly over it.”

The shark can be seen as it initially breaks its pattern and pursues the woman while keeping its distance.

“It was just kind of crazy. Everyone on the beach, in the water, they had no clue.”

Fortunately, she ended up being safe, whether she swam away because she realized the shark was there or just happened to be coming back in from the people calling out.

Battles didn’t waste any time in rushing downstairs towards the beach to find the woman. He was able to track her down and talk to her.

“She never saw it,” he said. “She was just like, ‘I think I’m done with the ocean.’”

We can understand that.

It’s not apparent what kind of shark at was. But it’s a good thing it seemed more curious about her than anything else.

“It was crazy,” he added. “I’m just glad no one got hurt.”
