When Dan Hoey noticed a great white shark was trying to take a chunk out of his boats motor while out on a charter, he decided to put a stop to it. For Hoey, the perfect shark deterrent wasn’t a gun or some type of pointy object, it was a red broom. Surprisingly enough, the broom worked like a charm, eventually causing the shark to swim off.
There are certain things I could think of using to scare off a great white and a broom isn’t one of them. The fact the broom worked could’ve been a useful tip for those guys in Jaws.
