Drone footage captured of two surfers off the coast of Ballina, New South Whales shows just how close they came to having a run-in with one of the oceans top predators – a great white shark.
The shark can bee seen stalking one surfer, who is unaware of tis presence while he catches a wave and speeds off. The shark immediately switches its attention to the other surfer, but lucky for him, the shark unexpectedly swims away when it gets closer.
The state government has been using drones to help spot sharks across beaches in New South Whales. There have been 11 shark attacks and one death since 2015. Fortunately there haven’t been anymore since shark nets were placed around the area in December.
