Kentucky girl, Caitlyn Taylor got more than she bargained for while recently visiting Florida’s Panhandle with her softball team. The 17-year-old was swimming near a sandbar in the gulf when a shark bit her on the leg on Sunday afternoon, according to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Once the shark bit Ms. Taylor, she started punching it to force it off – it eventually let go.
Fortunately for the teen, despite the bite bleeding quite a bit, it wasn’t anything life threatening and only needed stitches. She was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical for treatment where she received 80 stitches in her leg.
Besides the it being five feet long, the type of shark that bit her wasn’t identified.
