At 240 feet wide and 360 feet long, the MASK (Maneuvering and Seakeeping) – the U.S. Navy’s insanely massive indoor wave pool – definitely ain’t built for hosting barbecue’s.

This indoor ocean, located outside Washington, isn’t even used in the traditional sense of a pool. Instead, this massive 12,000 million gallon body of water tests to scale prototype models of various future naval ships. Thanks to the realistic conditions created by the wave generator, vessels can be tested to see how they handle the stresses of being on the ocean and help keep future sailors safe.
