We knew pine trees had a lot of uses, and while we knew pine nuts were edible, we had no idea you could actually eat part of the bark. It turns out there’s a thin white layer under the rougher bark that can be eaten raw or once it has dried out.
As abundant as pine trees are, this is good information to have if you’re ever lost and out of food in the wilderness. It might not be a juicy ribeye, but it could be the difference between starving and making it another day.
