Shocked Diner Finds A Tiny Crab Inside Their Mussel

Confused redditor, jaredjeya, had to question whether they ordered crab or mussel’s after finding a miniature crab inside hiding inside a mussel while dining at a restaurant. It didn’t take long for the comments to start flying. Many believed it was the mussel that ate the crab, but it didn’t take long for someone to set the record straight, saying it was the other way around.

The tiny crab is actually known as the pea crab, a tiny parasitic crab that solely relies on its host for food, safety and oxygen. They can inhabit a variety of hosts, like oysters, sea urchins and sand dollars. Pea crabs even mate inside of the shellfish they inhabit – talk about an invasion of privacy.
