If you’re ever in Canada and see what appears to be an army of multi-colored tractor beams coming down from the night sky, don’t worry, you aren’t about to be abducted, as Timothy Joseph Elzinga found out while up with his toddler.
“I saw beams of light, looking like something out of Star Trek or Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” Elzinga said when asked about the light pillars.
It looks like the Northern Lights are getting a little competition.
These vertical columns of light can potentially appear anywhere with frigid temperatures, but they mostly occur in polar regions since the light is caused by reflection off of ice crystals.
