It’s pretty common to see trees that have been struck by lightning that have lost limbs or are split in half. What lightning did to THIS tree is something I didn’t even know was possible, much less had any knowledge of. When a bolt of lightning struck this tree in Arkansas, it perfectly shot down the top and through the center, creating a giant pillar of flame inside the tree.

This is certainly not something you see everyday, but it does happen from time to time.

According to Facebook user Derek Brown, there’s just such a tree in the middle of the Georgia woods. The crazy thing is that it’s STILL standing!

“This is a tree that not only survived but flourished after a lighting ‘gutting,’ according to Brown. Of course you have to walk about 10 miles into the Georgia woods to find it, but trees are more resilient than most people think.
