A hunter in Michigan shot a massive beast with an impressive rack during whitetail deer season…too bad what he shot was an elk.
“So was at DNR check station this morning to get my patch and the officers come in with this bad boy,” according to wmmq.com. “Guy shot it thinking it was a deer. Going to be a very expensive lesson for him!”
That’s going to be a very expensive lesson indeed. The man faces a $5,000 fine plus $500 per point on the 6×6 bull. He will also lose his hunting license for 15 years and could face 5-90 days in jail.
This sort of mistaken identity happens a lot according to people at the deer check station. We’re betting this guy won’t make the same mistake twice. Even if that means he has to wait till his next deer (15 years from now) is 12 feet in front of him.
