Americans Could’ve Armed the Marines with the Number of Guns They Bought on Black Friday

Black Friday is typically viewed as the day of the year where millions of people cram into stores looking for discounted clothes and electronics in preparation for Christmas. Sometimes they even beat each other senseless to save a few bucks on their way through the door. It also happens to be a day of the year where people buy a lot of guns.

This year, Americans applied for a grand total of 185,713 background checks in a 24 hour period. Those are enough guns to outfit every active member out of 182,000 soldiers in the marines with a gun.

In reality, multiple guns can be purchased on one background check and there are 20 states that allow people with a concealed carry license to skip the background check entirely. That means the numbers of guns sold more than likely eclipse 200,000

This years Black Friday background checks beat out Black Friday 2015 by 400 guns. This is in large part due to many peoples continued fears of their Second Amendment rights being taken away, despite Trump’s winning the presidential election.
