Temperatures are still on the decrease and fish are getting more into their winter patterns. Redfish are schooling up beginning to migrate. The smaller, slot fish are moving out to their spawning grounds. While the big bull reds are beginning to show up along the beaches.
Fishing the passes or cruising the beaches near the first sandbar is a good way to find these schools of big ones. Look for dark clouds in the water or disturbances on the surface. Also, white terns diving can signal schools of fish. Casting spoons, bucktail jigs, or large twitch baits into these schools is a good way to hook up.
Trout are also showing their winter patterns already pushing into the river mouths and/or intercostal waterways. They’re looking for warm water discharge. Here they will find where warmer waters that are flowing into the saltwater to feed. Large congregations of fish can be found. Using live shrimp or jigs, like gulp or DOA, on the bottom can work very well.
