It’s a shame cheating is such a prevalent issue in many fishing tournaments. Whether for charity or a grand prize, some people will do whatever it takes to win. It’s unfortunate some individuals have to mar the reputations of fellow fishermen when a cheating scandal is exposed, like the CCA Florida STAR Tournament recently discovered when the winner of a GMC Sierra was found out to have cheated. Now the truck is back up for grabs to whoever wins it the right way. Fortunately, the majority of anglers respect the honor code in taking home the top prize.

**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**

The GMC Sierra Pick-up truck donated by Conley Buick GMC is back up for grabs!

CCA Florida STAR announced the winner of the GMC truck on May 31st. Shortly after, we received notification from multiple sources that the angler made false statements regarding the catch. Over the last two months CCA’s legal advisers investigated these claims. Based on their findings, the STAR committee has voted to rescind the first STAR tagged redfish prize.

To support the integrity of our tournament, and the tenacity of our rule abiding anglers, we will not compromise the rules for anyone. CCA’s loyal sponsors have put together a tournament that offers tremendous prizes, and we are eager to give them away to those who follow the rules.

Thank you to all of the rule abiding anglers out there. You and your families are why we will not waiver in our efforts to administer a fair competition. There are still 30 days of fishing, over 130 tagged redfish to be caught and great prizes from Conley Buick GMC, Contender, Pathfinder, Hells Bay and Sea Hunt all powered by Yamaha, as well as college scholarships for youth anglers, and not to mention the additional 13 divisions allowing anglers a shot at their share of nearly $500,000 in prizes. So go forth and fish, and please play by the rules!

Because this is an active investigation, CCA cannot share the details of our findings at this time.
