Army Veterans Ditch The Fishing Rods, Go Noodling For The First Time

If there’s an extreme sports version of fishing, noodling would have to be it. There’s no rod or reel, just you using your arm to yank a massive fish out of the water. A group of Army vets recently had the opportunity to try it for the first time.

COMANCHE COUNTY, OK (KSWO) – For many soldiers, going off to war is the scariest thing they’ve ever experienced. For a couple of army veterans, they conquered a new fear right here in SW Oklahoma. Anchor Makenzie Burk and members of the Wounded Veterans of Oklahoma went noodling for the first time with 2 guides, and she tells us all about their trip. 

There’s no rod n reel for this fishing trip, it’s called noodling, or hand-fishing.   
 
“Noodling or hand fishing is the art of going under water, sticking your hand in a hole where a catfish nest and grabbing them by the mouth and pulling them out of the hole and throwing them on the bank,” says Jesse Dalton of Dalton Gang Outdoors.
