There’s a new Danish record after Simon Kastrup Shimizu caught a salmon that may be more dinosaur than your typical fish. While fishing in the Storåen river in Jutland, he caught a salmon that was such a monster at 55 inches long, he’ll probably never come close to seeing anything like it again. 55 inches is approaching the average height for a human, the fact that a salmon was caught at that size is insane!
“It went to the bottom a lot, so I could feel it was a fish of a considerable size, although I hadn’t in my wildest fantasy believed it was that massive,” Shimizu said.
It took Shimizu 30 minutes to fight and finally land his impressive catch. In that relatively short time, he crushed a record – which was previously 53 inches – that had stood for 62 years.
