It looks like whoever created The Day of the Dolphin could have been on to something.
After spotting a beluga whale in a harness, some Norwegian fishermen were understandably confused. The whale was wearing a harness that said “equipment of St Petersburg” on the inside.
The whale appeared to be used to being around people and kept approaching boats and pulling on straps.
Since Russia has admittedly been training beluga whales since 2017 to assist deep-sea divers and guard naval bases, there seems to be a good chance it actually originated in Russia.
