Not Vilanysane definitely didn’t enter the San Diego Team Series expecting to break a blue catfish record, but that’s exactly what happened.

While fishing for bass during the second day of the tournament, Vilanysane was fishing for 4 lb class bass with 8 lb test line on a spinning rod. His tackle is on the light side for catching the bass he was after, much less the 102.9 pound beast he pulled from the depths.

Vilanysane’s catch breaks the previous record of 98.45 pounds, set by Michael Williams in December of 2007.
