If you were ever wondering what a 10,000 pounds of explosives looks like when it blows up basically right under a Navy ship, it looks a little like the beginning of the end of the world.
These particular tests, which are Full Ship Shock Trials (FSST), involved the Littoral Combat Ship USS Jackson off the coast of Florida. Three tests were performed and each one involved a 10,000 pound explosive charge going off.
While it may look like a real-life version of Battle Ship, the purpose of the tests is to determine operational survivability of newly constructed ships. The ship passed with flying colors. It looks like this explains all of those “earthquakes” in Florida a few months ago.
