A nearby civilian vessel helped save the lived of 26 passengers of a fishing boat after it sank in the Coronado Islands, according to U.S. Coast Guard. The fishi/Users/kylerhodes/Desktop/11706616_G.jpgng boat, a 63-footer named ‘Invicta,’ hit rocks near the islands, waking up those aboard with the collision.
“I was walking out of the bathroom – that’s when the boat went full on collision with the islands, the Coronado Islands, and it threw everybody and just put everybody in a frenzy,” said Darien Fox, a passenger onboard the Invicta.

As the ship was taking on water, everyone put on life jackets and the crew started deploying life rafts off the Mexican coast and made a distress call to the Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operation Center.
Fortunately for the Invicta, the crew of the 35-foot ‘Sweet Marine,’ overheard the distress call and changed course to help out. They ended up reaching the boat first, rescuing 21 passengers and five crew members.
While on their way to take the crew to San Diego, the Coast Guard intercepted them and transferred the Invicta crew to their vessel. They took the crew to the San Diego Harbor Police dock on Shelter Island, arriving between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
