Mary Mines and Peter Rauenbuehler awoke to strange noises outside their house and their dogs barking on Wednesday at 3:30am. Little did they know what they were about to discover.
“I didn’t have my glasses on so when I looked through the peephole I thought it was a coyote,” said Mines. “And I turned to Peter and I said, ‘There’s a coyote on our front porch,’ because we have a lot here. I opened the door and I looked and I said, ‘That’s not a coyote, that’s a much bigger animal.'”
It wasn’t a coyote at all. A mountain lion had killed a deer and dragged it into their yard and then to their front porch, where it then started to enjoy its fresh kill.
“He dragged the deer over the railing because there was deer hair over the top,” said Rauenbuehler. “And the dogs didn’t seem to intimidate the mountain lion at all. They were barking pretty crazy.”
This insane encounter quickly went viral as soon as the family posted the video to Facebook. The video has already reached a staggering 10 million views after being posted late Wednesday night.
