See Rescuers Attempt to Float Stranded Great White Shark

Great white sharks may be the intimidating top predators in the sea, but take them out of there element (stranded on the shore in this case) and it’s a whole different story.

Divers in South Africa discovered just how helpless these creatures can be when they discovered a stranded 7-foot-long great white male off the Gansbaai coast. Since white sharks must swim in order to breath, the divers attempted to re-float him, but the shark was unfortunately unable to be saved.

“He had a very bloated stomach,” the divers said on YouTube. The divers suspect an internal injury is to blame for the death. Any death of a white shark is a huge blow to saving the species, as only a few hundred remain in South Africa.
