Anytime any species hasn’t been observed for over 100 years, it’s understandable to write it off and assume it may be extinct.
Scientists recently rediscovered a bizarre looking “faceless” fish while exploring some unexplored areas of the ocean off the eastern seaboard of Australia, 2.5 miles below the surface. The last time this particular fish had been seen was off of Papua New Guinea in 1873.
The fish doesn’t have any eyes; instead, it has nostrils where the eyes look like they would be located and has a mouth located under its body.
