The sunfish may look a little funny but that doesn’t mean the worlds largest bony fish isn’t an incredible sight.
While they’re capable of growing to nearly 10-feet-long and can weigh over 5,000 pounds, they still resemble an oversized dinner plate with fins, as one of the researchers says.
During this particular sunfish sighting, the researchers realize it’s getting cleaned by the smaller fish around it. Since the sunfish can have 40 different types of parasites on its body, this is necessary for it to stay healthy.
