Two Canadian brothers have snapped a viral selfie with a grateful bald eagle they rescued from a hunting trap. Michael Fletcher of Sudbury, Ontario, was hunting grouse with his brother Neil last week when they came across the bird, which had become stuck in a trap.
The men wrapped the eagle in their jumpers and released it from the claw trap, set up by hunters looking for larger animals for their fur.
“Me and my brother just kind of held onto it, and it calmed right down,” Mr Fletcher told The Sudsbury Star. “I don’t know how long it was caught in there but I think maybe it had just been in there a little while.” The brothers set the bird free, but decided to snap a selfie before the release.

Michael Fletcher said the eagle flew to a nearby tree and watched them for 15 minutes. The pair also contacted the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, who thanked them for freeing the bird.
